Universal Genève Polerouter 1950s

The Polerouter was produced in 1954 by Universal Genève in partnership with Scandinavian Airline System (SAS) by a then 24-year-old Gerald Genta. Universal Genève developed the automatic Polerouter to be more resistant to the strong magnetic fields at the North and South poles.

The version you see here is stainless steel with a stunning black dial in good condition and mirrored steel chapter ring. Overall, this is a beautiful designed watch with a rich aviation history. This specific piece is one of earlier models as it housing the 138SS bumper movement which was the predecessor of the famous microtor used in later Polerouter models.

DIAL

• the hour hand has a thicker lume than the minute hand (usually the same thickness) One hand might have been replaced in the past, but they have the exact same lume color and aging process of steel

• comes with a black aftermarket leather strap fitting up to 22 cm wrist size / 3.5 mm thick
• after market steel buckle
